A pleasant mix of folk’s old and new trajectories, Brooklyn seven piece Dirty Bird’s new single “Eventide” seems tailor-made for periods wherein time surreptitiously passes. “Behind the shadow of the day’s final thoughts, I walk, still I’m endlessly searching for dawn,” echo the track’s vibrant refrain, a mix of soft percussive fills and an interwoven tapestry of guitars, banjo, and baroque-like vocal accents. Lush and inviting, it’s ironic that “Eventide” would make prime listening for a walk through an idyllic meadow during a period wherein we should all (still) be staying inside — for the time being it provides an acoustic reprieve that’s perfect for fans of bands like San Fermin or the Decemberists. Folk-rock collective Dirty Bird has a new, lovely single out called “Once,” and they are celebrating it in style April 21 at the Mercury Lounge. The single contains strong male-female harmonies, a catchy lead melody and the band's signature creative approach to Americana. The group seems to have improved the formula from their 2018 record Still To Be Ours, pushing their experimentation farther without betraying their own sound. This is a band that deserves to be seen live and will be supported by fellow folk-rock group Dead Gowns from Portland, Maine. Check out Dirty Bird's new single below. - Rene Cobar

Dirty Bird is back at it again - the folk-rock band has released a new song called "Fever Dreams" with a bubbly lyric video to match, curated by Stella Rosen. Complete with haunting three-part harmonies, gorgeous violin and horn arrangements, and thoughtful, evocative lyrics, Dirty Bird's new song captures the chaos of everyday life, though with intermittent sunshine. Dissonant chords build into a sweet section that puts the whole song (and life) into perspective, singing: "Don't worry for me / I'm alright." - Geena Kloeppel 

Dirty Bird's latest single, "Towers," will catch you off-guard.  "Towers" is a juicy, upbeat indie folk tune with a striking, purposeful arrangement and stellar vocal harmonies. Melodically, instrumentally, and vocally, this band is getting everything right. The recording is so delightful that I'm intrigued to hear them bring their music to life on the stage.
