A Deli Premiere: Locus Pocus's apocalyptic self-titled LP

Earlier this year, The Deli SF had the pleasure of premiering the single “Doctor’s Doctor” from San Francisco’s jangly psych outfit Locus Pocus. Now, the five-piece is back — but this time, with a full-length, self-titled LP, which The Deli SF is happy to be premiering once again.

Collectively, the band explained: “Locus Pocus (originally titled Cool Color Happiness) is about finding meaning and wellness amidst feelings of isolation and doom.” Although the same psychedelic side that appears in earlier releases comes out in tracks like “Game To Lose” and “Cool Color Happiness,” others — like opening track “Getting Creepy” or the central “Big White Car” — set a decidedly more punk tone for this apocalyptic record (note: the release date, June 6 at 6 a.m.) This fast-paced, frenzied release is a very welcome surprise from a band that has already managed to create a name for itself in the Bay Area scene. Locus Pocus will be playing an album release show at Cafe du Nord on June 29. - Lilly Milman

Stream the record in its entirety below, before it becomes available on all streaming platforms later today.

A Deli Premiere: Locus Pocus release "Doctor's Doctor" & play The Ivy Room (4.6)

If you have yet to hear the apocalyptic indie psych of San Francisco five-piece Locus Pocus, then you are surely suffering from intense FOMO. Good thing that we have the cure. Today, the Deli SF is happy to premiere “Doctor's Doctor” (streaming below), the first single off their forthcoming self-titled debut LP. This track departs from the band’s previous style, trading in some of the softer sounds, creating a feeling that is much more urgent. Locus Pocus plans to release their next single on May 6th, and the full album on June 6th—a decision meant to align with the themes of the album, and, in the band’s words, “to be cheeky.” If you like what you hear, make sure to catch this track live tonight at The Ivy Room in Albany. - Lilly Milman

Milk Was A Bad Choice Holiday Party (12/6)

If you’re still not fully enveloped in the holiday spirit, then fear not—Milk Was A Bad Choice has the showcase for you. Complete with Christmas DJ sets, festive drinks, and even an ugly sweater contest, the holiday party showcase is the perfect event for anyone who wants to stop being a Grinch. The stacked lineup includes local psychedelic garage-rockers Locus Pocus, a solo set by Zachary Vito of the Bay Area’s very own Union Pacific, and a special headlining performance by the disco-infused alt rock quintet Kid Bloom from L.A. - Lilly Milman

Drop by The Milk Bar on December 6th at 8 pm for the holiday party to end all others, and until then, stream Locus Pocus’s new single “I’d Be Your Woman” below.
