New Track: "Hit or Miss" - Ceramic Animal

Ceramic Animal recently shared a new single, “Hit or Miss,” featured on their forthcoming sophomore album. A strolling, twang-inflected ditty is warmed-over with the addition of keys. Re-routing misguided ambitions, while aspiring to retain companionship, the song hovers between hope and a melancholy distance. You can find the dapper quartet at Union Transfer on Thursday, May 17, supporting local boogie-woogie rock 'n' rollers Low Cut Connie. (Photo by Dylan O'Connor)

New Track: "So Familiar" - Ceramic Animal

Strolling keys set off the psych daydream of “So Familiar,” the new single from Ceramic Animal. Trapped in a state of déjà vu, the inherent warmth of new love permeates. Floating on a cloud but already questioning the long-term ramifications/outlook, the message is mixed. Ceramic Animal is slated to appear at World Café Live on Saturday, February 17 with Sixteen Jackies and Dr. Danny.

Weekend Warrior, September 22 - 24

Summertime has come and gone, and fall is upon us. However, those in need of some music therapy can hone in on one place, and make a two-day appointment. This Friday and Saturday, World Café Live hosts the succinctly named Philly Music & Arts Fest. Among the plethora of local artists canvassing both levels, the spellbinding free-floating melodies of Kississippi, the experimental existential-searching of Eric Slick, the serenading surges of Abi Reimold, the cruising, cosmic psych-pop of Ceramic Animal, and the infectious, rumbling emotives of Cayetana. The quintet of Tiny Hueman kicks off the affair on Saturday afternoon with the endearing open-book of Dominic continuing down the line. Familiarity meets futuristic in the groove-spiraling, psych folk of Pine Barons. Exploring personal depths with a robust energetic push, Sports instantly adheres. And the episodic, comforting narratives of Slaughter Beach, Dog and the candidly soulful hip-hop, hybrid observations of Ivy Sole serves as a snapshot of a lineup that offers a solid sampling of the litany of artistic excellence within our city. – Michael Colavita

The Deli Philly's Yearly Readers'/Fans' Psych Rock/Pop Poll Winner: Ceramic Animal

We just wrapped up our Yearly Readers'/Fans' Poll for the categories of Psych Rock/Pop. Thank you to those who took the time to check out and vote for some of the amazing talent on our nominees list. It was another heated battle.

Congrats go out to the suave, turtleneck-wearing gang of Ceramic Animal! The Bucks County quartet casually grooved its way into the Philly music scene with its radio-ready, retro-tinged, self-proclaimed brand of "dad rock," found on the group's debut release, The Cart, which so happened to be recorded at the band's Daddy's Basement Studio. Frontman Warrren Regan charms with a crooner-like magnetism, as cohorts Elliott Regan, Erik Regan, and Walker Gall assist in laying down some sophisticated, endearing tunes. Expect to hear more from these old souls in the coming years!

Weekend Warrior, January 20 - 22

Grey clouds hang overhead; it’s only a matter of time before the skies open up. However, Johnny Brenda’s will be offering shelter from the storm this evening. Ceramic Animal enacts loose, affecting psych-pop - the type that gently seeps into your mind with the casual crash of surf-rock-inspired rhythmic sways, but is fully prepared to attack at opportune moments, demonstrating the force of the instrumental tides. Meanwhile, step into the heady blues-treading vortex of The Mysteries, who will be potentially unveiling material from their forthcoming release, New Age Psychedelic Experiment. With boogie-flavored infectious tones that swiftly transition toward tinges of psych rock, the trio of Satellite Hearts kick off the proceedings. - Michael Colavita
