"Deep Fields felt like an electronic river of synth leading to a waterfall of whammy bar. You could tell the band members were enjoying being on stage together, and this translated into an uplifting wall of sound.

Colleen Green was like strawberry bubblegum, but with a bite. She had a very laid-back yet punkish vibe.

The Abigails were like raw molasses: down home rockabillies singing about love and death. Their lead singer was super expressive and entertaining, and I can't remember a song that didn't have a guitar solo."

2k15's summer fest game is getting stronger by the week: indie music web series Dirty Laundry TV hosts its own Summer Fest, happening this Sunday from 1:30 PM till 12 AM at The Satellite. 

Mainstage performers include triple-threat Rob Zabrecky + members of Possum Dixon, Mike Watt & The Missingmen, Colleen Green, Kera and The Lesbians, Deep Fields, and more, with Sunshine Mind and Gateway Drugs just recently added on.

There will also be an acoustic side stage featuring Samira of Winter, Nima of So Many Wizards, Los Angeles Police Department, Bobby T. and the Slackers, and Joel Jerome, to name a few.

And last but not least, your event DJs Andrew King (Crystal Antlers), Mariana Timony (Lo-Pie), and McAllister (KXLU 88.9 FM) will round out the moshpit and dance floor all day and night.

This event has NO advance sales; tickets are $10 before 6 PM and $12 after. Yes, you'll get in, especially if you come out in the daytime (but not if you're under 21). There will also be a swap meet with local vendors and labels like Danger Collective Records and Porch Party Records, and food by HACHÉ LA —best burgers imo.

While it’s obvious the influences from which this four-piece is culling, they are successfully channeling the divine energy of the rock greats of the 60s in a way that excites passion instead of mere nostalgia. It’s no surprise they have quickly been picked up by LA-based Indie, Innovative Leisure, which boasts acts from Nosaj Thing to Nick Waterhouse. To our delight, they will be playing for free every Monday Night in January at the Echo. Each week is jammed packed with up and coming garage/psych-leaning bands like, Blackfeet Braves, Colleen Green, and The Blank Tapes. Harvard & Stone will be serving up a super-sized menu this January. It’s fitting for a month with five Tuesdays; each one carefully curated to feature some of the best local bands in the lo-fi, garage, surf and punk oeuvres. The headliner for each night will be newbies, Cotillon, who have very recently released their first EP, Votive Flower. A potpourri, if you will, of delicate pop melodies straight from the heart, poured out over gritty guitar riffs, and an almost early Beatles-esque frenzy. The heartbroken longings of frontman, Jordan Corso, are tinged with the kind of teenage angst fit for the soundtrack of a John Hughes movie. They will be joined by acts such as Colleen Green, The Abigails, Dirt Dress, Cosmonauts, and Criminal Hygeine, with DJ sets from the likes of Este Haim.
