Computer Magic

Computer Magic unveils video for 'Dimensions' + talks about gear with Delicious Audio

Danz Johnson, aka Computer Magic, is by no means a tyro when it comes to navigating the music scene. In just 6 years, the Brooklyn-based synth-pop artist amassed 10+ releases, became something of a sensation in Japan, and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Her latest EP, Obscure But Visible, smacks of  a more mature artist capable of fulling flexing her songwriting abilities, but has the same fresh feel and innovative vibes that her fans have come to love her for. Recently, the artist unveiled a new video for single 'Dimensions' (streaming below), agreed to give us a glimpse into the magic that happens behind her computer and talk about her songwriting processes and experiences performing. - Olivia Sisinni

Delicious Audio Interview: Computer Magic's Synths and Creative Process

Brooklyn synth-pop artist Computer Magic shares 'Be Fair,' plays Baby's All Right 10.10

Computer Magic aka Brooklyn artist Danielle "Danz" Johnson shares a jolly rancher-sweet pop song with "Be Fair" (streaming below), the lead single off her forthcoming American debut LP 'Davos.' Over budding synths and wispy effects, the Catskills-hailing musician sings of romance's complexities with both calm and force. "Be fair, and I'll tell you I love you," she explains, powerful radiance shining through. 'Davos,' which was produced by Neon Indian and Interpol collaborator Claudius Mittendorfer, is scheduled for release on October 16th. Computer Magic will play Baby's All Right on October 10th as part of her upcoming tour. - Zach Weg

Computer Magic releases "Orion EP" + plays Santos on 03.08

Computer Magic – solo project of 22-year-old DJ Danielle Johnson – is making some big moves. This native New Yorker (hailing from upstate) is slated to release first full length via Kitsuné later this year. In the mean time, she’ll be releasing a selection of these tracks on the EP "Orion," set to drop March 12 - you can stream the single "Trinity" below. A little dreamy, a little sci-fi, with positively thumping beats, Computer Magic will be touring throughout this month, including stops at SXSW and a Webster Hall date supporting Of Montreal. - Corinne Bagish

Computer Magic launches new video + plays Deli CMJ show at The Delancey on 10.18

Pixie Brooklynite Danielle Johnson – better known as Danz – began cutting music little over a year ago under the moniker Computer Magic, but has already garnered some encouraging write ups, an enthusiastic fan base and a sturdy collection of tracks, all of which she’s made freely available online. Despite not charging for her music, the 21 year old’s vintage synth pop style already sounds fully formed. The arrangements bounce along efficiently, with Danz’s gentle voice cooing out the sweet melodies with candid optimism. In fact, there’s not yet a dud among her growing portfolio, which could easily fill a double album. A DJ, graphic designer and blogger to boot, you get the sense that this super-gifted Hunter College kid can do whatever she puts her mind to. Check out this new video and come to see her live at The Deli's CMJ electronic stage at The Delancey on Tuesday October 18 with Psychobuildings, Pretty Good Dance Moves, Caged Animals and other awesome NYC electronic artists. - Dean Van Nguyen
