Dream Safari

Stacked Local Bill w/DRGN King, Dream Safari & Hello Shark at Everybody Hits March 28

DRGN King dishes out groove-oriented pop-rock that seeps under your skin, bubbling below the surface and then breaking loose with shards of guitar as Dominic Angelella clear vocals ease you into a comfortably chill space, cruising along until the moment of aggression reaches a tipping point and kicks into a high gear. Tonight, at the batting cages better known as Everybody Hits, DRGN King will be home from tour and joined by the percussive/key combination of Dream Safari, whose vibrant island vibes create a loose continually moving sensation that you’ll succumb to without a fuss, momentarily transporting yourself to a warmer climate in the process. The ceaselessly engaging honesty of Vermont transplants Hello Shark get you caught in a mesmerizing net of folkish rock with modern twists and turns. It's a stacked local bill this evening! Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

New Track: "Panama (Telequanta Remix)" - Dream Safari

Below is a new remix of Dream Safari's "Panama" from Telequanta, the electronic project from J. Termini and now Patrick Schlitzer. They take a laidback, glitched-out approach to the single before letting the vocals seep into the forefront, turning the original upbeat dance track to something more contemplative. Press play, and let it wash over you.

Louds Opening for Cheerleader & Dream Safari at JB's Dec. 20

Starting as a familiar collaboration between brothers Pete & Charlie Brooks and growing to incorporate friends within the artistic community, Louds has set the bar relatively high with their single “Ways,” a highly contagious electronic blast of loose, fun energy. With its free-flowing iridescent tones meshing with clear augmenting lyrics and a constant danceable groove, the song is a promising first step as they work on their EP If More People Bought Art, More People Would Buy Art. Tonight, Louds opens the evening of performances at Johnny Brenda’s, which also features the inviting jungle-vibed electronic blend of synth/keys and percussion of Dream Safari, a.k.a. Chris Coulton, shining a steady luminosity in which movement proliferates. The vibrant, joy evoking tunes of Cheerleader will headline this bill of locals. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9:15pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Track: "Panama" - Dream Safari

Dream Safari, the electro-pop project from Chris Coulton, recently dropped a new single entitled "Panama." The intricate polyrhythmic beats add a complexity to the track that feels almost effortless amidst its vibrant pop melodies. Coulton will be translating his studio magic to a live setting this Friday, November 14 at local batting cages/music space Everyone Hits.

Weekend Warrior, May 2 - 4

Worshyper is celebrating tonight at Bourbon & Branch the vinyl release of their full-length album, Keeps, which you should totally grab a copy for those nights when your partner needs a bit of sexing up. The group has just been getting better and better with each performance so I am definitely looking forward to this evening's set. And what you should be equally excited about is the return of Power Animal, a.k.a. Keith Hampson, with a whole album of new material. There will be plenty of posi vibes all around. Also joining in the fun will be the electro-tropicalia grooves of Dream Safari and NYC beatmaker/singer Shraf. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 9pm, $10, 21+ - H.M. Kauffman
