Moor Mother Goddess

New Track: "Georgia+Mass" - Moor Mother

Here is a new expansive track from experimental artist Moor Mother (formerly Moor Mother Goddess), a.k.a. Camae Ayewa, called "Georgia+Mass". It features samples from the Georgia Mass Choir's "Come in the Room," along with Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders. Ayewa shared that the composition is about “investigating alternative methods of healing.” You will be able to find it on Moor Mother's upcoming debut full-length album, Fetish Bones, due out in September via Don Giovanni Records, and she'll be performing live this Sunday, July 31 on a bus touring through Philly as part of the Double Decker Music Series.

Hot Tears Warm the Heart at Boot & Saddle Dec. 23

Hot Tears, the ambient rock duo of Molly Fischer and Erica Freas, mesmerizes with contemplative lyrics and the tantalizing use of the underappreciated cello. Finding spaces that inhabit the sonic regions of such artists as Beach House and Best Coast, their minimalist approach to songwriting still manages to sound lush and inviting. Unfortunately, headliners The Shondes had to drop off the bill due to illness. However, Hot Tears will still be joined by Callowhill, which features members from Trophy Wife and Make A Rising, and Moor Mother Goddess has also hopped on in the eleventh hour. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Bill McThrill

New Moor Mother Goddess EP Available for Streaming

Moor Mother Goddess a.k.a. Camae Defstar recently released a self-titled EP. The EP, which is available on cassette via Vague Audio Tapes, pushes the parameters of exploratory hip-hop.  These setting shifting compositions provide a new perspective. Moor Mother Goddess performs August14 at The Art Church as part of ROCKERS BBQ Weekend.

Phreak N’ Queer Arts & Music Festival Kicks Off at PhilaMOCA July 31

Today marks day one of the 4th annual four-day Phreak N’ Queer Arts & Music Festival. The nonprofit event aims to support and embrace many things that we at the Deli are in communion with, providing a forum and voice for a diverse spectrum of artists and recognizing the past while gazing toward the future - meanwhile celebrating the present with a series of excellent artistic exhibitions/shows that are as varied and open-minded as the people that produce, perform and witness them. This evening, PhilaMOCA will host a bill that includes the engaging personal-narrative folk-blues combo of Andrew Bethany Spiers, a.k.a. The Feverfew. The intriguing electro-synth-soul-pop incarnation of Jen Pague-fronted Vita and the Woolf, whom will release their debut EP Fang Song on September 16, will also grace the stage as well as the atmosphere-generating hip-hop creations of Moor Mother Goddess, and the skilled classical improvisations of Brave, among others. PhilaMOCA, 531 N. 12th St., 7pm, $5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Of Blood" - Moor Mother Goddess

We dig dark, weird things, especially if they are interestingly done. Check out the new music from Moor Mother Goddess (a.k.a. Camae Defstar) for the track "Of Blood"! The song is from her EP Alpha Sepentis, and the video was directed by Delio DeMille. Special thanks to The Key for bringing it to our attention.
