Pardoner plays El Rio Nov 6

San Francisco punky alternative group Pardoner is set to play El Rio on November the 6 with New York’s Bethlehem Steel and World Smasher. Pardoner’s most recent album, Playin' on a Cloud, was a self-released collection of songs with Weezer and Green Day influences and some Fiery Furnaces thrown in for kicks. They’re fun and loud and happy and ready to roll. -Michelle Kicherer, Associate Editor

PLUSH Pardoner Run Forever and Looming Play Know Lodge Gallery - 1/7

PLUSH and Pardoner, local heroes, are back out on the town playing support for a show at Know Lodge Gallery in Oakland on January 7th, and y’all better not miss it! Both bands have been making their California rounds debuting recently released albums from 2015. PLUSH’s April release Pine is the perfect blend of classic San Francisco garage-y riffs, fuzzy reverb-ed pop sounds, and soft vocals that the quartette has dubbed “sob rock”. These talented young ladies and gent have been playing in Bay Area bands over the years, but only recently came together to create the dreamy sound of PLUSH. Pardoner brings a similar shoe gaze vibe with both of their 2015 EPs, but they pack a much more noise-punk punch, don’t let their soft intro’s fool you. Out of towners Run Forever and Looming will be closing out the show next thursday with some east coast indie rock. Come early, and bring your pretentious artsy friends (it’s a gallery), music starts at 7 pm. -Julia deAnda

Club Violaine Show 7.14 with Plush, Pardoner, Young Lovers, and SHEER

San Francisco's PLUSH and pardoner are making rounds on their first tour together through California, and tomorrow they're hitting up Club Violaine's M-Club in Boyle Heights tomorrow, July 14. Enjoy the comforts of Sonic Youth-inspired noise-punk (pardoner), a rarity in Los Angeles, and 50's-reminisicent pop churned through fuzz and reverb aka sob rock (PLUSH).

The night will be supported by rising locals: post-rock group Young Lovers and doomgazers SHEER. If you've been to any of their recent shows you know how expansive these two can get. So you'll probably want to bring earplugs.

First band is on at 9 PM, 21+ venue and five bucks a pop. Get a taste of PLUSH and pardoner below, and gaze responsibly. - Ryan Mo
