Punk-rockers T-Rextasy to play Market Hotel 10/3

Fun and fearless are not a word pairing that you'd think go together, but it's an apt description for the garage/punk rocker grrls in Brooklyn-based T-Rextasy. On their latest release, the delightfully fitting Jurassic Punk, the band uses fun vocal affectations and punk riff-age to lampoon patriarchy and systematic oppression with a forceful swagger - masterfully using absurdity to point out the absurdities that society forces women to deal with. Though T-Rextasy is endlessly engaging because of their unique approach to punk, their fiercely feminist message has us majorly crushing on the dino dames. Listen to T-Rextasy below, and be sure to check them out at the Market Hotel with Pity Sex and Eskimeaux, on 10/3. - Olivia Sisinni

New Hello Shark LP Available for Streaming

Hello Shark has been methodically rolling out tracks from his forthcoming album Delicate. He spent most of last month on tour with Advance Base, a.k.a. Owen Ashworth (formerly known as Casiotone for the Painfully Alone), who runs Orindal Records. The Chicago label will also be releasing his LP this Friday, September 30, and Hello Shark will be celebrating its arrival that same evening in Philly at All Night Diner with Power Animal, Mega Bog, and Amanda Glasser. You can now stream the record in its entirety over at Impose Magazine. Enjoy!

Hypoluxo releases debut album 'If Language' + plays Our Wicked Lady on 10.07

If you love musical paradoxes (and indie pop) we recommend you to check out Brooklyn quartet Hypoluxo, a band that combines a rather serene dream pop with crepuscular and monotone male vocals. The dichotomy actually works: the tracks' harmonic content is rich enough to entertain the ear, while Ocampo's dark tenor, appearing only occasionally, adds a layer of maudit character that true rock fans will find appealing. If you like the RIYL game, here it is: Real Estate, Joy Division, Lloyd Cole and the Commotion. The band will be releasing debut album 'If Language' on September 30th, playing Our Wicked Lady on October 7th, and then leaving for a truly insane 40+ day fall tour which should be named "the clockwise tour of the US of A." Way to go Hypoluxo, safe trips!

Abi Reimold Opening for Ava Luna at Space 1026 Sept. 25

Raw, visceral, dreamy, anything she wants to sound like. Abi Reimold brings a sound and fury that cradles - sometimes like a loving mother, and other times like a bed of razor blades. But it is always hauntingly beautiful. And she’ll be bringing that sound and fury to Space 1026 when she opens for avant-pop Brooklynites Ava Luna. They'll also be joined by Philly psych-popsters Laser Background. Come out for a rare performance at the Chinatown art space! Space 1026, 1026 Arch St., $10, All Ages (Photo by Skyler Burkhart) - Keith Kelley
