The video combines her smokey, low-register vocals and artfully minimalistic instrumentation, with gorgeous black and white visuals and movement that are meant to conjure responses to the ideals of, as the artist puts it, “femininity and fortitude,” and gender fluidity — major themes of the track. “Such a Lovely Thing,” however remains only a first taste of what’s to come: LEA is gearing up to drop her EP "Fever Dream" some time in the coming months. If you're looking to hear more from the artist be sure to check out her set on April 12th at Footlight as she performs alongside Smoke & Sugar, Hippiehaus and Laney Lynx. - Olivia Sisinni

New Elegant Animals EP Available for Streaming & Download

Elegant Animals has just released another new EP Warm Blood Pt. 2. The record seamlessly ties together electro R&B and soul. While coasting on buoyant, pillowy grooves, the songs allude to an air of danger. “Amateur Video,” with its smooth, seductive, simmering, bedroom funk, feels like a nod to the late, great Prince. Finally, album closer, “Saved,” surveys in a streetwalking, soulful nostalgia. Make it the soundtrack to your stroll or ride through Philly this beautiful weekend.

Experimental soul? Juliana Huxtable at BK Bazaar on 03.25

Juliana Huxtable will bring her manic electronica to Brooklyn Bazaar on Saturday March 25. The DJ, producer, performer and model has long been a favorite of the NYC art scene, and her music mirrors the dynamic, wild, and multi-faceted persona radiating from the artist. Huxtable's latest release, "DISCOWOMAN MIX: SCHIZOANALYSIS," is a monster track that manages to effortlessly fold in spoken word and gossamer, echoed vocals with stomping, high-energy beats and angular synths over the course of its hour run time. Take a listen to the mix streaming below, and make sure you catch her set this Saturday. - Olivia Sisinni
