Party Photographers and Moon Women Catchin’ a Buzz at KFN Sept. 8

There looks like a seriously fun show tonight at Kung Fu Necktie. Local post-punkers Party Photographers and Moon Women will be sandwiched by ROIR’s Nashville garage-punk power trio Bad Cop and Fat Possum’s Alabama indie popsters Thomas Function. You’ve probably been hearing plenty of buzz around town lately about Party Photographers’ Jesus and Mary Chain-esque sound. Well, isn’t it time for you to check out the buzz from their amps for yourself? Newcomers on the local music scene Moon Women should be providing plenty of buzz on their own having already opened for Wavves and The Buzzcocks. And their video below for “Listen Closely” with its dark Cure-ish flare will grab some attention. BTW: If a spontaneous shot of childbirth is something that sounds unappealing to you, then watch out! It caught me off guard. Ha! - Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $10, 21+ (Party Photographers' Photo by Sam Levine) - H.M. Kauffman

The Deli Showcase - Official Opening Party for Philly F/M Fest Sept. 23!

Happy Labor Day! We refuse to do anything today except drink, eat and smoke whatever anyone puts in front of us. But we’ll leave you with this poster by our beloved Annamarya Scaccia to reflect on what an awesome time you are going to have at our next showcase on Thursday, Sept 23 at Kung Fu Necktie which is the Official Opening Party for the Philadelphia Film and Music Festival. Cheers! - The Deli Staff

Trippy Debut Video from Golden Ages!

Below is a trippy debut video from Golden Ages for “Everything Will Be Alright” off of their EP Sitting Softly in the Sea. It was directed by LA-based Bryan Schlam. The track gets your heart thumping, while the visuals leave you in a psychedelic haze drowning in feelings of loneliness and isolation. (Do we need some psychiatric help? Sometimes.) Golden Ages is working on a new album and planning some live performances locally as well as regionally. - The Deli Staff

Schoolly D Chillin’ at Tin Angel Sept. 4

Veteran rapper Schoolly D is bringin’ his versatile and seasoned flow to the intimate Tin Angel tonight. Schoolly is a native of Philly and has been name dropped as an influence by everyone from Ice-T to MC Chris and Chuck D. You might know Schoolly best these days by his occasional involvement in Aqua Teen Hunger Force providing narration and one of the better theme songs of current television shows. While his style has been noted as pre-gangster rap containing urban violence and dirty realism, Schoolly now has run the gambit of hip hop through eight studio albums over 15 years and has recently released his newest album and first in over a decade, International Supersport. On the topic of supersports, Schoolly also claims to have invented snowboarding in Philly. This venue is really tiny for such a legend, so make your way to the Tin Angel tonight to get your fill of some Funk N’ Pussy, probably more of the former than the latter. But I’m guessing that there will be plenty of the latter skankin’ up the streets of Old City. Good luck. Tin Angel, 20 S. 2nd St., 8pm, $12, 21+ - Adam G.
