The Baby Magic

The Baby Magic recently released a video for their track "Huts". The video is a more grounded and very comical look at the American Dream. The track comes from their 2014 release, Rent A Place in Hell. The Baby Magic is fronted by the captivating Mary Beth Brennan and she really shines in this video.

You can catch The Baby Magic at Cole's Bar on October 24th with Nervous Curtains, Post Honeymoon, and Strawberry Jacuzzi as The Breeders.

Cheap Seats is the Best Variety Show in Boston, Maybe Anywhere

Years ago, I realized concerts had gotten boring. Why not start a vaudevillian variety show with headliners like Weezer and openers like a dancing horse? In late 2012, Erich Haygun did just that (minus the animal acts) and I've gone to many Cheap Seats since.

The show is completely inclusive, with acts ranging from Guerilla Toss to superhuman dancers to teenage poets to the indescribably hilarious Ben Hersey, and it's always pay-what-you-want. And, somehow, even the average act at Cheap Seats beats most things you'd see at The Sinclair.

Cheap Seats happens January 16th at the YMCA in Central Square.

Cool Ghouls Gear Up to Release New Album + Drop New Single

The incredibly popular San Francisco based band, Cool Ghouls is gearing up to release their new album, A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye which is due out on November 11th on Empty Cellar Records.

You have the opportunity to hear a new single from the album below. The quintessential CG sound resonates through their new track, The Mile, which is catchy but sounds a bit more mature than their earlier work. Although they still grasp tones and styles from The Beatles, there is a bit more of a serious tone to the song that shows that the band has evolved, which hopefully invokes anticipation for their upcoming album. We are intrigued for sure.

Give The Mile a listen. It’s a great song.

Tocca's Sound Has Us Gazing Into Space

Risa Elledge and William Wong are Tocca, a genre-defying project unafraid of sharing premature works; unmastered and raw, their songs promise much potential. Elledge's vocals are undoubtedly enticing and easy on the ears. Accompanied by bright and uplifting guitar riffs on "What You Need to Get By", her slight husk and powerful emotional projections seem effortless. Each track is completely different from the next, and yet flows seamlessly due to Elledge's consistently distinct and breathy vocals. Stream "What You Need To Get By" below. -Rebecca Glandon
